Create Compatible MSP360 Recovery Image

For Use with MSP360 Backup Restores (DTC Standard)

This guide walks you through creating a USB recovery image using DTCBSure Cloud Backup. This recovery environment allows you to boot into a live system and restore images backed up by MSP360. It’s ideal for staging and lifecycle deployments.

🧭 Step 1: Launch DTCBSure Cloud Backup

  1. Open your Start Menu and begin typing:
    DTCBSure Cloud Backup
  2. Left-click the application icon when it appears to launch the tool.image.png

💽 Step 2: Begin Recovery Image Creation

  1. In the DTCBeSure Backup application, click “Create Bootable USB” (or “Create Recovery Media” depending on version).
  2. Choose to create an ISO image — this gives flexibility to reuse or deploy the image later across multiple machines or USB drives.image.png
  3. Uncheck the box that says:
    This makes the boot environment easier to work with during recoveries.

⚠️ Step 3: Accept Warnings

You may get a warning pop-up asking:

"Do you really want to skip protection?"

Click Yes to proceed. This is normal for our deployment process.

🧰 Step 4: Inject Drivers (Dell Systems)

The recovery image must include the necessary drivers — especially for storage and network interfaces.

  1. Download the Dell Family Driver Pack for your systems:
  2. Prepare Drivers for Injection:
    • Create a folder at the root of your C: drive named:
      C:\drivers
    • Extract the downloaded driver pack contents into this folder
  3. Add Drivers in DTCBeSure:
    • In the recovery media creation wizard, click “Add Drivers”
    • Browse to C:\drivers
    • The tool will recursively scan all subfolders for compatible driversimage.png

📁 Step 5: Save the ISO Image

  1. Choose a consistent save location — for example:
    \\dtcfiles\MSP360\Staging\Latest
  2. If a file with the same name exists, replace it.
  3. Click Create to generate the image.

🚀 Step 6: Finalize & Deploy

Once the ISO file has been created:

  • You're done!
  • Upload the ISO to the designated share or attach it to your internal documentation system (e.g., a Bookstack article in this book).
  • Optionally, use Etcher or a similar tool to burn the ISO to a USB stick.

  • 🕒 Rebuild the image annually to keep drivers fresh.
  • 🧪 Test the ISO on a known device before production use.
  • 🌐 Ensure network drivers are present — especially important if restoring from cloud-based MSP360 backups.
